I showed them a photo of my rug and they told me they might be able to get $400! for it. I knew it was worth more. I had attended an art show about a year earlier at Gray's so I called them. A lovely woman came to look at my rug and told me they could get much more than $400 for it. Shortly thereafter, a crew from Gray's arrived, carefully rolled up my rug and loaded it into a truck. Not too many days later, I attended the auction, a new experience for me. A couple of staff members manned telephones next to the auctioneer's lectern. My rug was the last item on the program that day. I don't remember the opening bid, but my rug went for $4500 to a bidder who called in from California. I had tears in my eyes when I thanked the Gray's people: I now had a down payment for a new car. I also enjoyed thinking about my rug's journey: from Iran ( formerly Persia), to Chicago where it was purchased by my grandparents, to my grandmother's very elegant dining room in Muskogee, OK where it laid beneath the dining table for more than 70 years, to my home in Cleveland Hts, OH, to my apartment in the near west side of Cleveland following my divorce ( another D ), to California. But above all, Gray's rescued me from my desperate situation.

A major reason for the increase is the ADL's own change to the definition of Antisemitism. How Greenblatt with The ADL uses the term as a weapon to try and silence any opposition to the war in Israel. That would account for the majority of those increases, plus there might be a slight increase due to the war but the same happened to German Americans and Japanese Americans during WWII who fared much worse than anything happening today.
